Francesca Messina
PhD and cake lover
I was born in Trieste, a town in the Northeast of Italy overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. When I was 10 years old, I moved to Torino, an elegant town close to the Alps, located in Northwest of Italy.
I studied environmental engineering in Torino and I lived there until I finished my PhD. I moved to Louisiana in 2015 to work on the restoration and preservation of Louisiana coast and environment.
In Italy food and cuisine are a must. Most social events and family gatherings happen around food. My mom cooks really well and I have always looked at how she does things in the kitchen and tried to learn. I mainly enjoy baking cakes. Because I love sweets, I love the smell of a freshly baked cake and because a cake always makes you happy!
I love to cook for my friends and loved ones. When I moved to Louisiana, I learned pretty quickly that a good way to make friends and connections was to make desserts and share them! At the office, at social events, with neighbors.
I’d love to share my love for baking with all of you and bring a little bit of Italian flavors to your homes!
